  • Tonia Collett manager of tudor house museum
  • Takes up 3 buildings. They were seperate buildings at one point which were built in 1520 to be homes for weavers which were built by the clothiers guild. The guild is the last remaining medieval guild in Worcester. They are great supporters of the tudor house
  • Used to be called the museum of local life run by the city council in 1970 to 2003. they discovered the roof was going to cost a lot to repair and they didn't have the budget. They close the museum and moved their entire collection out which can now be found at the Hartpury county museum.
  • Investigations after this revealed that the ceiling was fine. A group of volunteers set up the Worcester Heritage community trust and they took on running it.
  • The Tudor house has been volunteer led for the past 15 years. This is the 15th year (2019) and they will be celebrating it on May the 4th. 
  • Dont charge and entry fee
  • No fee encourages good diversity of visitors. 
  • Museum tells the story of the buildings at the time 
  • Lots of repair work, especially to the ceilings needs to be done. They are applying for a grant 
  • this year to get repair work done. 
  • Last remaining Tudor embossed ceiling in Worcester. 
  • Lots of repeated context around the museum ie. Lee and Perrins. 
  • There is no branding and there are different styles throughout. 
  • Lots of things to do for children. They consider themselves family friendly. 
  • They have lots of events. this weekend they have a reenactment weekend which is part of the Love Worcester Festival. They do traditional Tudor painting. Wall Art. 
  • Once a year they work with the cardinals Hats on friars street where they reenact and create the cross keys inn which was the tavern on site up until 1909 
  • They house the changing face of Worcester photography project. Over 8000 images of Worcester from the late Victorian period to about 1950. They work with them once a month to create new displays. Good resource www.cfow.org.uk

Primary adudience is family, young people and retired couples.
Secondary- Group visits, tourists, schools.

Design Requirements- Interpretation/ information board for one of the rooms.

A4 sheet to go with the room. Information on the board and on the sheet.

Web page mockups on content. (Could do coding) mock up on phones and tablets. (Possibly)

Room board- clear title, paragraph of text, photos/ illustrations. Any other elements, learning elements for
youth visitors. mixture of illustrations in Photoshop.

A4 sheet is a supporting sheet, include floor plan. Draw in illustration, take reference when there. doesn't have to be exact
visual look and colour scheme must match board. clear title and info text (mock up text)
any other components I feel appropriate. learning activity or resource.
Web page mock up. homepage and individual room mock ups.
logo is already included. we will be given logo. Might influence thoughts on colour.

Lapworth geology museum- Good idea of what teeth on dinosaurs would look like. very legible text.
Momer new york. allowed you to think of traditional museum designs.
Belfast titanic exhibition.
same font throughout. avoid too many fonts. one font. clear hierarchy of text. column and grid format
look at environment boards sit in.
link for segd. good examples. - Dickens museum in London, boards are like portraits. silhouettes, cut outs.
Can use any format.

More traditional, will be creating a better timeline for the museum (N/A)
mixture of images and font. readable. bite size bits of info.
